Writers Festival pics

Jim Morrow, publisher at the Victoria Standard, has shared two photos he took the night of the Cabot Trail Writers Festival Literary Gala. The top photo is of the Poe Trio (acting as a quartet that night). The second photo shows Douglas Arthur Brown, me, Donna Morrissey and Bill Conall.

Hi Susan
Nice pics from ther writers festival. How did it go for you? Did you read from your book? I am still waiting for the St Mary's Library to receive it.

I have just finished Bonnie Burnard's Suddenly. Disapppointing. I loved her book The Good House which I read a number of years ago. this new book is very wordy, lots of useless details and did not engage me at all with the characters. I wonder if it is only me.

It was sad to read of the young woman's death in Cape Breton. I am sure that must be shocking to the locals.

I read from Night Watch, Justine and Rockette, because I wanted to talk about it in one of my workshops. The Kathy character in The Checkout Girl developed when I couldn't get Justine out of my mind. In all, we had a great festival weekend. 255 participants. Made enough money to pay all of our bills.

I have been looking forward to Bonnie Burnard's new book. It got quite a lovely review here. I, too, like her writing. Maybe I'll borrow it from the library.

There is sadness and puzzlement here in CB about Taylor's death. I have never seen a coyote while hiking and I walk in the woods every single day alone, but I do take our dog, Honey. Though we do hear them howling often, the coyote are usually invisible. A tragic death.
