Curious visitor

We haven't had moose near the house for a long time, well before Christmas, and in fact haven't even been seeing any sign, prints or scat. We worried that the warm weather and constant rain and terrible storms were affecting them, but today a healthy young moose came to visit and decided to come right to the house. We were relieved and delighted.

great photos Susan, what a gorgeous and majestic animal. I had never seen a moose up close until a few years ago when we were on the Cabot Trail. I fell instantly in love!

Hi Karen: This was definitely a young moose, but still big and yes, majestic. I think moose have poor eyesight so they appear to be curious, sniffing the air, listening closely, head up in the direction of sound or movement. Even with Andy outside taking pictures this young one still came closer and closer to the house, but then there was a critical moment when he/she spooked, moved away a bit, then listened and watched again before he/she put her head down, straightened her back and took off. Yesterday I realized I don't know how to distinguish male from female in winter when they don't have their antlers. I'm going to do some reading and watching and see if I can figure that out.

I showed Chris your pictures of what I called a "cute Moose" and even though she at first thought those words didn't got together she had to agree.
Also in emailing you today Tuesday 25th get the message "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently:" thought you might want to know.
