Emily's spine: a whale perhaps?

The question mark is because we don't know for sure. Too big for seal, we're pretty sure, but so far we haven't been able to identify it from marine animal websites.

My niece, Emily Howey, was out for a beach walk when she found this wonderful big backbone of what we think must be a small whale. Though lovely to look at, it stinks when moved, and there was a lot of moving involved to get it off the beach, up over an embankment, into the wheelbarrow, up a long driveway (bless you, Andy) to the car & trailer, into the trailer and finally unloaded. It's now stashed out back on a wood pile pallet and hopefully the elements (teeming with rain this afternoon) will do their magic and cleanse the thing.

I love it....but where is your snow?

The snow is gone-gone. Was about +10 with lots of rain this afternoon, and so grey it was like dusk all day. Would have been depressing except for Bill & Fenella's scotch levee, a wondrous event!
